Iraqis to Celebrate Anniversary of Victory over Daesh

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Iraqi government has announced programs to be held on Monday to mark the anniversary of the country’s victory over the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terrorist group.

According to al-Khalij website, on Monday national celebrations will be held in different parts of the Arab country on the occasion.

Fireworks, speeches by political officials, including Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi, will be among the programs.

Earlier, the Baghdad government declared December 10 as a public holiday.

Former Iraqi prime minister Haider al-Abadi declared final victory over Deash in a televised announcement on this day in 2017.

In late November 2017, the Iraqi Ministry of Defense announced that its forces had reclaimed Rawa, the last remaining town in Iraq under Deash control.
